Butte is about 780 miles from Denver via Interstates 25 and 90, and 320 miles east of Spokane on I-90. Anaconda is about 25 miles west of Butte.

Butte's Bert Mooney Airport is served by Delta/Skywest from Salt Lake, Alaska Air/Horizon from Seattle, and Northwest from Minneapolis and Bozeman.

Although September is typically one of the driest and finest months, snow is possible every month of the year. The average mid-September high-low temperature range is 68ºF to 35ºF.

Montana in general and Butte in particular are casual in terms of dress.
